I was soaked and freezing cold by the time we reached this alpine lake, but something about the sound and tranquility kept me completely unbothered.
Sally: *Rounding corner of the house* Jack, Halloween’s in trouble! The Town needs you!
Jack: *Solving math equations, has an unfinished solution on the table, reading a book on Shakespeare* I’m a little busy right now.
Sally: Jack...I need you.
Jack: *Throws everything to the side, causing an explosion and a fire* Say no more. I’ll be there.

You know what else I like about Jack and Sally?
They’re both dreamers.
Sally’s more of a hopeless romantic - but still a dreamer. For Sally, her life outside the Tower revolves around Jack. She escapes for him, gazes at him, thinks about him, and ultimately risks herself for him. She spends her time picking at forget-me-nots whenever she’s alone, wondering if he ever will truly love her back. She indulges herself so much in this romantic fantasy that she becomes an outsider.

Jack Skellington dreams of something better that he wants. He’s unsure of what it is - but he still spends a lot of time alone and thinking. He doesn’t enjoy the empty praises and the repetition Halloween gives him. He becomes depressed with what he once loved to do, and his unhappiness was what separated him from everyone else. Why he left to go off on his own and lament about what makes him feel so sad.

And that’s what I like about Jack and Sally - how two dreamers were able to connect somewhere. They both long for something that they feel can’t be given to them. And that’s what clicked them together - Jack as Sally’s escape, and Sally as Jack’s reason. There’s no doubt that they truly took the time to gaze at the stars…wondering, in either of their minds, if they’ll ever get what they longed for so long.

And they did.
