Link to Hot Topic’s online store for the shirt

So I get home after a LOOOONG week of work, hoping to catch up on my Tumblr before having to do a fast housecleaning - unexpected brother-in-law arrives in four hours. But I check Twitter first and see that Hot Topic…has released a Sheith shirt. And yes, they used the (misspelled) ship name in their description.

I try to order online and find out that the shirt has sold out completely on the website. So I make a call to my local brick-and-mortar store.

I only get as far as describing a “new Voltron shirt with the characters Shiro and Kei–”

“Yeah, we got a bunch! Come on over!”

So I did. I’ll be wearing this with pride tomorrow.

Adding a couple of points of data, since I’ve been seeing people ask (a) whether this is official merch or not and (b) whether the Hot Topic marketing team knew what they were doing when they added “Shieth” to the website description.

(1) Yes, it’s official merch. Hot Topic has a license with Dreamworks to produce merchandise. It’s been mostly tees, but there’s also the pins, the new mug, and a wallet that I know of.

(2) This is the tag from the shirt. I didn’t even notice until someone brought it up on a Discord. Their stock/inventory name carries the (correctly spelled) ship name. So yeah, someone along the line knew exactly what market would buy this shirt.

Let the (over-)analyzing commence.
