Things Betty’s done for her mother: (a thread)
Helped her mother clean up a murder at sixteen years old
Acts as the adult and comforts and consoles her mother as she cries on her shoulder countless times. Never expects that support to be reciprocated.
Forgiven her mother for unjustly locking her in an insane asylum
Forgiven her mother for stealing and spending her entire college fund and selling her house to her boyfriends family.
Comes back into a household where murderous burglars are waiting for her just to protect her mother .
Saves her mother from her father when he almost kills her.
Saves her mothers life again by saving her from drowning at the hands of the farm.
Notices her mothers depression in season one and works to find a way to help her. Offers her a position at the Blue and Gold.

Can we talk about this?
I understand people deals with grief in so many different ways, but Betty’s fragile and sad and hurt, and what does her own mother do? She refuses her, preferring a brainwashing cult over and over and over again, saying she’s afraid of her, of her darkness and how she’s her father’s daughter.
The only person Betty can always rely on is Jughead.
He’s the only constant person in her life. He’s her rock, her crying shoulder, her caretaker, her partner, her everything.
He keeps her safe and sound even with just one touch.
He loves her.
She loves him.
Please, give her a break and let her be seventeen.

Here’s the thing, if Alice had been a good (or at least a decent) mother before, THEN we could’ve blame it on the farm and feel bad because she’s being “brainwashed” but the truth is she’s always been awful. The farm didn’t make her like this, fam; they just condoned her behavior.
Is not like we can hope for her to go back to the way she was, because honestly she was still the worst.

Bad things happen, but you can’t get rid of your past because then you lose the good parts, too. There’s been so much pain. I know, I know, but that’s what makes us stronger.
