I guess this also came out 13 years ago. At least the CG was good.
The execution of the CG cutscenes was insanely top notch, especially when compared to the rest of the game. Even with just this opening you get a look at all sorts of vibrant poses, polished animation, and lighting choices the series hadn’t tried out up until then. Definitely leaps and bounds better than Sonic Heroes’ CG.
Also, the extra sheen you’d see on Shadow’s fur in the CG from this game and onward was an excellent addition to his design. You could tell they tried to keep it from just appearing as a straight solid black mass so they made it more sensitive to the lighting than Sonic’s, so Shadow’s highlights and midtone colors are more defined.
Hell, from this game to even as late as the Sonic Boom show, Shadow could just be standing there not doing anything, and he’ll look comfy as hell just from how well his fur’s conditioned. I always thought that was a nice touch.

But hear me out ok? What if when your gobblin on that schloonger you take into consideration the fact that you’re basically doing some pretty advanced high-altitude cardiovascular training. You know, like this:
But instead of a mask it’s a dick. You’re like Bane but with a dick in his mouth. And instead of running you’re head-banging like you’re at a rock concert. Anyway, just food for thought.
