As we approach the two finale episodes of season 2, looking back at where this show started to where it is now, you come to find these characters have already come so far and changed so much. I’ll only be covering our main two for now, but some of our other favorite characters have started to grow and change, too.
Marinette started off being really unsure of her capability at being Ladybug, and was still learning the ropes. She needed reassurance that she was good enough to save Paris. She had started crushing on the boy that sat in front of her in class that had proven he wasn’t just another rich kid that looked down on everyone, but someone that cared and was genuinely kind. Marinette became totally smitten with him and from then on, almost never got more than a few words out correctly and grinned dumbly at him whenever he got near. And when she was out saving the city as Ladybug, she took her partner’s flirting as just part of his personality, and never thought seriously of it.
Now Ladybug is confident in saving Paris and works her hardest with the weight of the world, which seems to get a bit heavier each day, on her shoulders, to make sure every single person is safe, treated with kindness and given a chance, despite what they may have said or done in the past. Marinette has begun to realize that Adrien’s happiness ultimately comes first, and she needs to be his friend above all else, even if it means she suffers. Ladybug also has found out that Chat Noir isn’t just a goofy flirt, but does in fact love her with all his heart. Her affection for him has grown considerably, and wants to make sure that even though she may not be able to be with him in the way he wants, he is irreplaceable and more important to her than he’ll probably ever know.
Adrien began just wanting to live like a normal kid. To go to school and make some friends. To get let out of the house and enjoy life after he lost his mother. He was given these because he was determined not to give up on them, as his father let him attend school and he was given his Miraculous to experience being Chat Noir and the city in a way Adrien never could. It also brought him Ladybug, who he fell for, for her bravery, kindness, and ability to pull off crazy ways to save the day that most would fail hard at. Chat Noir spent so long wanting to tell Ladybug how he felt about her, but never went the direct approach to do so, even though he wanted nothing more.
This boy has made a class full of new friends and lives a life much closer to that of a normal kid than he had ever thought possible in the beginning. Adrien has shown more of who he is, what he cares about, and what he’d do to help and protect those he cares about. He’s also grown quite comfortable being Chat Noir, though sometimes he lets his personal issues interfere with his duty. Chat finally made his feelings clear to Ladybug, and is now in a position where he has to wait for the day she’ll return his. But he won’t give up on her, even if it’s the easier thing to do, because he has faith that things will work out for him. It’s that faith that has helped him through a lot of difficult times.
When you go back and compare these two from the beginning of the story, to who they are in the present, it’s difficult not to get a bit sentimental already, seeing how far they’ve come. Their journey is really only beginning though, they still have a long way to go, but when you step back and take a look at the big picture, you see that what we have going already is beautiful.
It’ll be quite the journey to see where they go and what they become as their lives begin to shift and change as they grow up, but all the frustration and craziness will be worth it to find out where they end up and seeing every step of the way.

Part 2.2! From now on drawing this is gonna be tricky (more like trickier…). Like I have this great ideas and plot twists and all the stuff but I feel like Im still a baby when it comes to drawing and that i will mess up… so thats fun!
