“I was hoping that by the end of the episode, Marinette would be able to see Lila in her room, and would have go to talk to her, to keep her away for being used again. But that didn’t happen at the end, oh well, I guess we will have more Volpina in the future”
i think we all agree that the characters in chameleon were totally ooc. but to me, the most shocking reaction of the miracuclass was chloe’s. because……..she literally didn’t do anything.
let’s break it down. considering how oblivious everyone in this show is, it’s no surprise chloe jumped on the bandwagon to believing all of lila’s ridiculous lies. i’m not expecting to see chloe call her out for being a liar. but the few times we’ve seen lila and chloe in the same scene, chloe is suspiciously passive. sometimes you can catch her giving lila a few nasty glares, but that’s about it. the only time we hear chloe speak about lila is in volpina: “why would jagged stone write a song about lila when he could’ve written it about me?”
clearly, chloe holds some sort of resentment towards lila. so why wouldn’t she act on it? chloe isn’t the type of person to sit back silently and let some self-absorbed rando waltz into her terf and upstage her in bragging and popularity. in fact, she is the exact opposite of that.
what do i think? i think chloe is holding back. a lot. maybe she sees how lila has so effortlessly gained the endearment of all their classmates and fears backlash. after all, they turned on marinette, literally the most beloved girl in the school. they could very well tear chloe apart.
lila is likely the first person to be a real threat to chloe’s power and popularity. chloe used to rule the school with fame and cruelty, but now lila is controlling them with captivating tales of her alleged expeditions and good deeds.
so chloe’s kind of on her own. the only other person who explicitly hates lila is marinette…chloe’s other enemy. but what other choice does she have? if lila is going to be taken down, chloe’s going to need the help of a fellow spitfire. and besides, the enemy of your enemy is your friend, right?
we already know marinette’s beef with lila and how all of her friends suck. marinette is desperate to find at least one person not brainwashed by lila’s manipulation. so if chloe were to, with precarious civility, admit her shared resentment for the girl, marinette would very likely decide she can work with this.
the last step is getting on the same page. chloe hates lila because she wants her attention back, and she assumed marinette wanted the same, but marinette goes off about why lila is such a fraud. and chloe thinks back on how lila seems to tell the most outrageous stories and eat up every ounce of praise and sympathy from her followers. she thinks back on plot holes and impracticalities in lila’s lies that are so obvious in hindsight.
this would lead to the foundation of the “Expose Lila For The Self-Centered Bitch That She Is” club. (members: 2) (3 if you count tikki) (4 if adrien decides to grow a pair). their mission is self explanatory in the title. chloe and marinette are officially allies. marinette’s going to make t-shirts.
the next class, lila is off lying again, and marinette is grumpy again, and everyone still thinks she’s just jealous. but when chloe’s suddenly backing up marinette’s arguments, it gives everyone whiplash. it would be easy for them to excuse chloe’s hate for lila as chloe being her bitter self, but since when do marinette and chloe agree on anything?
cue passive-aggressive warfare, lila vs. mari & chloe. whenever lila attacks marinette, chloe backs her up, and vice versa. they bitch about lila’s stupid lies, often dragging along adrien too-nice-for-his-own-good agreste for the ride.
their relationship smooths out from there. marinette gets to understand that chloe’s attitude is, in part, a product of her upbringing. chloe gets to soften around the edges and realize why how she used to behave was wrong. they become friends. adrien’s happy. everyone else is so confused.
tldr; if lila is going to keep being a terrible person, marinette and chloe are going to make her suffer for it. adrien might join in if he realizes passivity is pointless. marinette makes him a club t-shirt just in case.
I officially changed the name of this fic from Forget Me Now to this, so hopefully no one gets too confused. Let’s find out what Adrien has to say to Marinette, shall we? ;)

Chapter 3
Marinette stood frozen on the sidewalk as her brain processed what was happening. She closed her jaw and shifted her weight a little to mask her unease. Of course, she’d expected her friends to question her decision, but seeing Adrien outside the bakery door came as a bit of a surprise.
“I, uh…I have a lot of homework to catch up on and-” her voice trailed off at his pained expression, and she tapped her foot hesitantly for a moment before sighing. “Okay, you can come in.”
Adrien followed her up to the apartment silently, gaze fixed ahead as if there were a lot on his mind. Truthfully, he looked tired, but Marinette did her best to avoid eye contact with him for fear of what she might see.
“Can I make you some tea?” She offered, setting her bag on the stairs.
“Sure.”
Perfect. Tea was a good excuse not to look at him, and she kept her back to him while she worked, pretending that she didn’t know where things were to stall for time. She was hyper-aware of his eyes on her, following her every move. Watching. Waiting. She knew she couldn’t keep this up, so she decided it was best to get it over with.
“So, what’s up?” She asked while she filled the kettle.
“Marinette.”
“Do you like sugar in your tea?”
“Marinette.”
“I think we have some honey around here somewhere…”
“Marinette.”
“Preference on cup color?”
“Marinette.” She pressed her lips into a line, tapping her nail on the counter before turning around to face him.
“I know what you’re going to say,” she said, gripping the edges of her skirt. “’Why did you leave? How could you do this? I thought we were friends. Why didn’t you tell us?’ Look, I know, okay?”
Adrien waited patiently for her to finish, expression grave, though he didn’t look sad or angry. No, there was something else in his expression, and as she stared into his green eyes, she detected a hint of… worry.
Marinette flinched when he took a step toward her, hands shaking at her sides until Adrien reached out to place his hands on her shoulders.
“Are you okay?” He asked softly, and she blinked in surprise.
