Please stop the ‘Forget Felix Propaganda’

Spreading of Felix hate is stupid as heck. Like, ok, Hawkdaddy already said that nope he won’t be back for probably an eternity. I take it all of us understand this and know what that means. But hey, doesn’t mean that the LB crew threw him and the 2D ML troupe away that we all should too.

I mean, ok, if you wanna forget about Felix and focus only on the current show and everything, then please do. That is your choice and you are free to not think about the bitter cat, the sunshine girl bridgette and the rest of the old ML 2D stuff forever. But please, let the 2D ML fans have their fun in the fandom. Making fanarts, fics and other media forms that appreciate felix, bridgette, the old ladynoir duo, the quantic kids is not bad. ‘Let them rest…?!’ What the heck is that line?! Seriously? Stop trying to invalidate 2D ML and those in the fandom who still enjoy it.

If you only like the old ML stuff, then that’s fine too. And if you only like the current show, that’s ok. If you enjoy both, nothing is wrong with that.

These things aren’t meant to be put on stand against each other. They are for the fandom, for everyone to enjoy. If someone is happy remembering, forming HCs for Felix, for the 2DML then that’s good. If someone is happy if they forget about the old dudes, it is also good. What is not good though is propagating to forget about the 2D ML people because Astruc said it won’t happen. I mean, who are you to go tell people to forget something they enjoy? Are the people making 2D art, fics, etc. hurting anybody by doing what they do? Nope, I don’t think so. Everyone here is just trying to have some fun in tumblr, so please do not speak ill of the 2D kids because they didn’t make it to the show. I think 2D ML fans, more than anyone, are aware of that fact and despite that, the old kids are still loved.

Loving Felix, Bridgette, the old ML duo doesn’t negate Adrien, Marinette or the current LadyNoir. It is just simply loving Felix, Bridgette and the Old ML. I really don’t see what is wrong with that.

What’s wrong is that people are still hassling Papillon on Twitter about bringing Felix back. There’s no problem with fans liking the old 2D concept stuff, but we draw the line at bugging the creator when he’s repeatedly asked people to stop.

Okay, so for the record, I didn’t know about the spamming issue until like 2 hours ago when a nice anon told me about it. And I do agree that continually spamming Hawkdaddy on twitter about Felix, a chara he obviously is not comfortable talking about, is wrong and these people should just stop. And I kinda read ur tags because I’m a shit like that I am not trying to put 2D ml fans in the ‘victim position’. If some 2D ML fans are hassling Hawkdaddy about Felix, they should stop. But I do actually see post where people say to forget about Felix because Astruc said so in that one famous tweet and to let him go because he’s never gonna happen. And the post I saw which led to me writing this mentioned his chara is dead, let him go. I used them instead of he in ‘let them rest’ because I wanted to refer to not only him but also bridgette and the rest of the quantic team and not the ML crew (and also to try not to point any fingers but here I am). If the post had simply told me not to bother Astruc about Felix because he is not ok with talking about the bitter kitty, I wouldn’t have made this post and have agreed because Astruc does a great job at ML and ML is simply the best (up to the test when things go wrong~) and harassing him is just plain wrong. But instead, the post told me to ‘Forget Felix. Let him rest. He’s dead.’ which is basically what my post is trying to say is also wrong.

While I myself am guilty of reblogging several popular ‘Forget Felix’ posts, I would like to point out that most of those posts are actually very analytical and well thought-out and explain in great detail why a guy like Felix is probably never going to show up in ML, even as a cameo. (#1 reason being the creator doesn’t want him to, #2 being ML is now a kids’ show and he’s a crappy role model, #3 being he wouldn’t have any chemistry with Marinette, etc.) These posts actually do acknowledge that Felix is an intriguing character who had a lot of potential, but the bottom line has always been “Enjoy your headcanons and fanarts, but please for the love of cheese, leave Thomas alone,” and in no way encourages people to seek out Felix fanart and harass the artists.

I’ve been kinda out of the fandom loop recently because of real life, so I haven’t seen any aggressive Felix-hate posts. But I’d also like to point out that even if there are “Felix is dead, forget him” posts circulating, there’s a distinction between “Stop trying to make Felix happen. He’s not going to happen” (aka stop bothering Thomas) and “Felix sucks and you should be ashamed of liking him.” I get that a good portion of the fandom is younger, so the knee-jerk reaction to criticism of Felix the character/concept might be to blow it out of proportion and take it as a personal attack on their tastes (hence cocooning into the victim position).

But as long as Felix fans aren’t forcing Adrien hate on non-fans, and non-fans aren’t making nasty comments on Felix-positive posts, and we can all recognize that the way Felix treats Bridgette/”PV-Marinette” isn’t cool, why not live and let live? Flood your pro-Felix/pro-Adrien corners of the fandom with more positivity if you have to. The different corners of the ML fandom have coexisted just fine so far, and it’d be a shame if we let drama happen where it doesn’t need it.

Well, I do understand that Felix ain’t gonna work for the way the show is going on right now and probably forever. But those post don’t really count as ‘Forget Felix’ (for me at least.) And they do talk about why Felix’s character isn’t ever gonna be up for a show whose target market are kids. Because Felix is in fact a huge prick and those imperfections of his chara are what I like about him. But anyway, what I’m trying to say is ‘Forget Felix’ isn’t exactly ‘Felix won’t work for the current show.’ I accept that he won’t be in the show. I just don’t see the point in people are telling  2D ml fans off and saying stuff like ‘let Felix go.’ Like, ok Felix will never be in canon but please just let people enjoy him in fanon and stop telling people to forget about felix and 2d ml.

And that remembering felix and appreciating his chara through various media is not 'bring felix back to the show’. And well, analytical Felix criticism are fine. Felix was never a perfect chara to begin with. Also, if Astruc doesn’t want to talk about Felix, then the fandom should respect his decision and stop throwing Felix into his face the same way people should respect those who still enjoy the 2D ml verse and stop telling them to forget about it. I believe that I was not trying to play victim in my post as I was trying to call out people who are actually posting 'Forget Felix’ stuff. I can’t say anything for other people though in other circumstances.

To put it simply 'Stop Forget Felix Propaganda’ is not equal to 'Don’t ever criticize Felix. He’s so perf.’ It is also not ‘Make Felix a thing to Astruc. Tweet to him endlessly about Felix.’ which is wrong and disrespectful and should stop right this minute. Like, write all the reasons why he won’t work in the current show, why he is an ass and everything else, that is understandable because he isn’t actually a nice guy. But telling me, telling people to let felix go, to forget Felix, nope. just nope. Another nope: to tweet to astruc about felix

It took some digging, but is this perchance the “let him go” post you were referring to? The only other one I could find in the tag was something like “thank god felix isn’t going to be in the ova” :/

For what it’s worth, I still don’t think that post I linked counts as Forget Felix propaganda, except for maybe the very end. It’s mostly justifying Thomas’s decision to replace him with Adrien. Even “Felix is dead, let him rest” sounds a lot more like “leave Hawkdaddy alone, you’re beating a dead horse” if you put it in the context of the rest of the post.

Side note: I scrolled through the comments on that post and found exactly what I meant by the victim position. “But we are still allowed to like the character, y'know?” - 2D/PV fans who take a post telling people to respect Thomas’s wishes and make it about themselves

But as I see it, this post doesn’t actually tell us to 'leave Hawkdaddy to his devices. Don’t push Felix to him.’ It tells us of why Felix won’t work because of Astruc’s dislike of his character and all the other plausible reasons, followed with a comparison to cinnamon roll Adrien. And the post may have been okay but then it adds the ‘he’s dead. let him rest.’

'Putting things into context’ may depend on the individual reader. I don’t get the how 'Felix is dead. Let him go.’ could be the same as 'Don’t bother Hawkdaddy with Felix.’ The post did talk about Hawkdaddy’s view of Felix and why he wasn’t a prospective protagonist but it never once tackled the issue of people bugging Hawkdaddy about Felix.It tackles more of why Astruc chose Adrien over Felix for all the plausible and children-friendly reasons which is true. But 'Felix is dead.’ 'let him go.’, I think is part of the Forget Felix propaganda. When a person dies, you are expected to move on. At the end of what was supposed to be a plausible post on why Adrien works better than Felix in the show, we are told to 'move on’ with Felix.

I have not see the comments after that post so I honestly have zero idea about it. I have only seen the actual post. But I do think that replying with ‘I am allowed to like this character’ if it is a post with 'Forget Felix’ is fine. The post wasn’t about the Astruc twitter issue which unfortunately is still a thing. It was about why astruc didn’t use Felix and uses Adrien which is plausible but then it goes on at the end saying to let felix rest, he’s dead and let him go (in the tags, at least). The thing is ‘Felix is never gonna happen’ posts are different from ‘Felix is never gonna happen so let him go.’ posts. And what my post is just trying to say is to remove the ‘let him go’ part of that post.

 I don’t see why people who have been told to let Felix rest (aka move on from him, forget him, etc.) can’t argue back with saying that they are allowed to love Felix when they have been just told to not think about him because Astruc won’t use him.The post was indeed doing okay, because all the not felix but adrien reasons actually worked out but then from ‘not felix but adrien for plausible reasons’, it turned out to be ‘not felix but adrien for plausible reasons so forget felix. felix is dead.’

Yeah, most of the post was just “This is why Thomas says Adrien would be a better deuteragonist than Felix.” But the last part (”Felix is dead, let him rest”) and the tag (”he’s dead dammit, let him go”) can be interpreted two ways:

  1. “I thereby impose a fandom-wide gag rule on all things Felix.”
  2. “Now stop digging him up to bother Thomas.” (sorry if that brings up a disturbing mental picture…)

The thing is, the post was probably referencing the Twitter thing. Thomas would be more than happy to never talk about Felix again, but people literally won’t let him forget about him. The only time Papillon and Felix have anything to do with each other, and the only time the list of reasons why Felix isn’t in the show is relevant, is in the context of people tweeting Thomas about Felix and him having to explain his decisions. So it’s not entirely a stretch for someone to read the post and conclude, “Oh, they’re just calling out the Twitter trolls again.”

Which is why that one comment annoyed me so much. It was basically “Yeah, okay, pestering Thomas on Twitter is ridiculous and we shouldn’t do that, but I am feel uncomfortable when we are not about me so *whines about how you’re not letting me enjoy this character anymore*.” The replier acknowledged that they understood the post was referring to Twitter, yet they turned it around and made it about themselves.

Also, because I was feeling stalkerish, I went to the OP’s blog and scrolled through. The OP even clarified that they didn’t mean people can’t like Felix’s character/design, and they’ve reblogged a fair amount of Felix and Twins AU fanart, so I stand by my assertion that PV fans are blowing this out of proportion.

I don’t hate Felix, I think he is an intresting character, even if he’s totally wrong for a children audience. I kinda enjoy some hcs about him, but I can’t really stand that people continue to ask Thomas about Felix, because sometimes it seems a bit made on purpouse.
Just to troll him. And… that’s not so nice, but maybe I’m seein it in the wrong way.

  • Apply to a  job, wait (1) day, then call.  Give them your first and last name. Tell them you submitted an application and that you’re very motivated to find [Enter field name] work. Let the conversation lead you wherever it takes. Be very polite. Say” thank you for your time, I’ll be looking forward to hearing back from you.” Rinse, repeat. This is to force them to be looking out for your application. 

  •  When you get to the interview, shake their hand firmly,  tell them your first and last name.  

  • Describe your experiences  as “ two years transcription and data entry” if you have a desk job interview and “ [however many years]  costumer service, retail and stock” for your retail jobs.  

  • Don’t use job “ buzz words” I stg they hear them all day. Say  things like, “ I’m detail oriented and am very good at taking instruction.”  “ I would like to work for a company with integrity and I feel that [ company name] would be a good fit”

  • When they ask you if you have “reliable transportation” say  YES. don’t tell them what kind of transportation, just say yes. (if you don’t do this, you wont get the job , I’m telling you right now). 

  • Research the company. Know what they do, why they do it, how OLD the company is. WHERE it was founded, and what kind of position you’re intending to apply for.

  • When they ask you “ give us a situation where you had to blah blah blah” Make one the fuck up. Make yourself sound good as hell, and like you put your company’s needs slightly above the customer’s needs, but make the customer happy. 

  • If they ask you about being outgoing, Say you “like to focus on your work so you can concentrate on doing things right” (which buys you out of having to act friendly all the time)

Questions for after the interview:

1.  Does this position offer upward mobility?

2. Do you enjoy working for the company? (if you’re not interviewing for a temp agency who will send you anywhere)

  •  Then, shake their hand,  Ask them to repeat their name (REMEMBER THIS) say thank you for your time, wish them a nice day and leave. write their name down outside if you have to, just remember the fuck out of it. 
  • AFTER your interview, send a card directed to the name of the person who interviewed you (I’ll give you them) that says “Thank you for the interview, I appreciate the opportunity. have a great day” This shows  that you have an understanding of professionalism, and will have them thinking of you kindly (or at least remembering you) when they’re shuffling through the choices. 
  • DO NOT tell them you just moved to the city over the phone.  In person, tell them you just moved to the city. Make it sound like the only reason you need a job is because you moved. Not because you’re desperate.
