I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT THSI GOD FORSAKEN WEBSITE I AM IN SHAMBLES
*whispers* imagine lonely child adrien, who wasn’t allowed to run or shout or play in the halls, who had to sit quietly always, listening to his betters, no friends but chloe who wouldn’t listen to him for shit, finally manages to get this little thing called a ‘miraculous’ and takes his shot at being a superhero
but plagg is a trickster and wearing the suit loosens adrien’s hard-learned restraint and he’s just. so embarrassed about it. he didn’t meant to make that cat pun, honest! he didn’t mean to laugh that loud and he was only going to think that flirty line! if it weren’t for the damn suit he’d have never thought of saying those things aloud. he’s better than that.
(well, he might have wanted to, but he’s been trained to think that being loud and silly and flirty are for 'peasants’ and that such things aren’t befitting of the agreste name and that he should never be those things, for fear of the sheer weight of the disapproval that would doubtlessly rain down on him from all sides)
and the timing of those lines is 500 times worse because his partner is beautiful and clever and he wants so desperately to impress her and he’s just so embarrassed at the cascade of little slips, the things that are leaving his lips that he’s always wanted to say but never quite dared, and he’s cursing his luck and his life because what’s leaving his mouth wouldn’t impress anyone. in fact he’s lucky she hasn’t gotten annoyed enough to leave yet, and-
and she giggles.
ladybug giggles.
she gives him a hand up and a wink and says, ‘you’re pretty funny!’
and it’s the first thing, the biggest thing to even come close to approval and acceptance for who he is that he’s ever gotten in his life.
Imagine lonely child adrien being wild and silly and punny like he’s always wanted to be and fallible and imperfect like he’s always worked so hard not to be… and having this beautiful girl smile at him for it, toss comments back at him and work together with him and forgive his mistakes like they’re nothing, like no one ever has before.
Imagine lonely child adrien learning to be himself through experience and opportunity and positive reinforcement and this lovely lady who knows how to be someone’s friend
