Thomas Astruc: No spoiler. Oh for you, a little one: (his/her) family comes from Réunion.

Good news: one of the two PoC comes from Réunion, a French-owned island in the Indian Ocean (near Africa)! Bad news: Astruc used singular third person, which in French doesn’t indicate their gender. In other words, we don’t know whether it’s Alya or Nino.

Thomas Astruc: and yes, Alya’s family is originally from Martinique.
In Kung Food we saw Alya’s mom again, and Papapillon gave us her name, Marlena Césaire. But as these tweets show, their family name is a shoutout to Aimé Césaire, an author, poet and politician from the French island of Martinique in the Carribean.
Now, I reblogged the original post because, by process of elimination, it seems that Nino is from Réunion. Awesome!
