Chameleon’s message

I feel like a lot of people are misconstruing or misunderstanding what Adrien said at the end of Chameleon. 

The point isn’t to do nothing and let someone do evil. To Adrien’s knowledge at least, Lila isn’t asking to be Akumatized or wanting to destroy Ladybug, he doesn’t know any of that and honestly neither does Marinette. 

All they know is that Lila is a person who lies to get what they want and to be accepted. Sure Mari also knows that she’s manipulative and hurtful, but let’s be real Adrien hasn’t really seen any of that.

What Adrien is saying is that Lila being humiliated before didn’t stop her from lying again and that she isn’t going to learn from that. At this point in time, although they may be terribly unbelievable, her lies haven’t harmed anyone. Even when people got upset at Marinette because of her she didn’t sick them on her, she even pulled the attention off Marinette and back to her by saying all that crap about how Marinette was just trying to help.

The way Adrien sees it, outing Lila for what are currently harmless lies isn’t going to help the situation and all she’s doing is digging a deeper hole for herself. Just like Chloe, he knows that Lila isn’t going to change by being called out, he’s trying to give her a chance (even if he shouldn’t but again he doesn’t know everything)

His point is that while Lila is manipulative and a liar, she’s also hurting no one but herself because one day no one will trust her unless she changes. The way Marinette wanted to go about the situation didn’t fix things before and it would be no different now, all it would do is lead to yet another Akuma. 

What matters is that they know and they won’t let her do anything harmful if she tries. Marinette and Adrien can trust each other, and they know that if they stick together they can keep Lila from hurting anyone. 

I think that’s what he meant by what he said.

TLDR; Chameleon’s message is that outing Lila is a harmful cycle that won’t change her for the better. The best Adrien and Mari can do is stick together to stand up to it when it isn’t right and give her a chance to change because if she doesn’t the only person she'll end up hurting is herself.
