Is there a word for all “sexual and/or romantic love”? “Love” doesn’t work because it can also mean love for family members or friends. I’m talking someone equivalent to a spouse or date partner, though not everyone gets married or goes on dates. “Attraction” kinda sort of works but I feel like it beats around the bush- you could be attracted to someone because they’re charismatic but not love them.
Got anything better? Maybe something from another language English could adopt?
The traditionally accepted types of love are:
- Agape - Unconditional love. Love of humanity. Selfless altruistic love.
- Philia - Deep Friendship
- Eros - Sexual passion
- Ludus - Playful love. Love that is a game. Flirting.
- Storge - Friendship or Familial love, based on similarity.
- Pragma - Longstanding love. Based on time spent together
- Philautia - Love of the self.
