“What’s the problem?” asks the man in black, his arms folded across his chest.
Genos swallows, heavily. He’s well aware that he can’t win this fight, that to continue would be hopeless; foolish. But he’s proud, and it’s not in his nature to bow for someone whom he does not respect. “I am not sure if I am willing to do that,” he says, voice coming out tight.
“No? You won’t get on your knees, even if it means saving your own life?”
It is stupid, isn’t it? His life is worth more than his pride, surely. But this man is asking him to…bow down, to submit… Genos has died a hundred times already, he’s not sure if it’s worth giving in just to avoid this version of his body being obliterated. Not sure whether it’s worth living to see another day anyway after being shown just how worthless he is.
